Origins of Project

Back in 1824 in Vienna, the great and yet deafened composer Beethoven acted as an honorary conductor in the performance of “Symphony No. 9”composed by himself. He had never truly heard his own music even until the last moment of the performance. Italian renowned conductor Sinopoli who died suddenly on stage had medical PhD degrees of psychology and archeology. Being an Italian, he even headed SächsischeStaatskapelle Dresden which represents authentic German music. His music rationality was precise and full of emotions. However, he did not that his performance at Deutsche Oper Berlin on April 20th, 2001 was the last night of his life. There are always numerous helplessness mixed with a talent’s destiny. There are also so many unexplained tests in life testing the values which truly make a human. People in the world are therefore able to feel the nobility of life from the agony of a genius.
National Arts and Culture Award winner Lee, Tai-Xiang who died two years ago is exactly the kind of genius with whom we’re so familiar. He was talented with numerous creations. He personally fanned up the heat of passion and used romantic burning love, sweetness, joyfulness and pain after losses as nutrients of his music over and over again. He used to write songs for pop singers and worked on film scores. With his solid western classical music background, Lee, Tai-Xiang always looked for inspiration out the land where he grew up. From a composer to a life fighter struggling with disease, Lee, Tai-Xiang had never given up his love in music. He fulfilled his own life from music score and emotion.

He represented the memory of time and the engraving of a society. He presented the extreme of romanticism. He used his music in bringing belief to people and he recorded the glory of a generation with his music. In this moment of generation change, we use Lee, Tai-Xiang’s music as a starting point to re-organize his music in movies, folklore songs, aboriginal music as well as beautiful notes which span across to literature. Through sincere performance from the national level of the National Taiwan Symphony Orchestra, music fans once touched by his music and life is now touched again.
